Sitemaps are an XML file with information for search engines (such as Google, Yahoo, Ask.com, MSN, Yandex) about the pages of a website that are subject to indexing. Sitemaps can help search engines determine the location of pages on a site, when they were last updated, how often they were updated, and their importance relative to other pages on the site so that the search engine can index the site more intelligently.
First, you need to install the Yoast SEO plugin and log into Google Search Console.
Then you need to create a link to the site in the “Resource with URL prefix” section.
After that, select the site verification method via HTML tag, copy the code and paste it into the Yoast SEO section.
Then go to Yoast SEO and open the “Sitemap” section.
A sitemap is an XML file containing a list of URLs and information about the structure of a website. Its creation is aimed at improving the efficiency of indexing by search engines and ranking pages in search results.
